Supporting Ex-Service Men & Women

Giving Back Through The Royal British Legion

Following the 2010 Strategic Defence Review, 33,000 personnel will have to leave the military. Of this 33,000, 20,000 service men and women will transition to civilian jobs during 2016. And we can all do something to help.

Around 20% of those leaving the military are interested in working in the property and construction industries. The Royal British Legion has set up a scheme to connect these service leavers with professionals in the business in order to support their transition. All you have to commit is 30 minutes a week to share advice and feedback on the industry to help them integrate into civilian life. This support can be for an agreed period and you can make contact via email, phone social media or face-to-face.

The rewards for both parties are huge. You can raise your brand and Corporate Responsibility profiles. Gain access to a vast talent pool of people who have exceptionally valuable skills from their military experience. And give those who have served in the military some invaluable support that they can use throughout their careers.

You won’t be on your own during the process and help is on hand at all times through the mentoring support desk at Tutorials and videos are provided to ensure that both mentees and mentors get the most out of their networking relationships.

We thoroughly recommend that you take the time to consider joining in the fantastic scheme to really give something back to our military service men and women.
